Office furniture and equipment clearance

Desks, seating and workplace furniture

Tell us about unwanted desks, chairs, tables, cabinets, shelving and other office contents. Include quantities and photographs, especially where furniture is large, heavy or difficult to move through the building.

A partial clearance needs the same clear instructions as a larger job. Identify the items to remove and label furniture that must stay.

If something may need dismantling, mention it before booking. Fixed fittings, built-in units and strip-out work should not be assumed to form part of a furniture clearance.

Electrical equipment and confidential material

List computers, monitors, printers, other electrical equipment and batteries separately from ordinary furniture.

Physical collection does not mean secure data erasure. Do not place confidential files or data-bearing equipment into a general clearance load without agreeing the appropriate arrangements.

Clearing a shop or warehouse?

Our commercial clearance services cover unwanted contents in shops, warehouses and other business premises. For those requirements, see commercial waste removal and describe the materials, quantities and access.

For regular business bin emptying or removal of unwanted containers, see commercial bin collection and removal. If stock, racking or machinery is moving to another site for continued use, choose warehouse relocation.

For broader requirements, see our waste and clearance services.

Plan collection around your business

A useful clearance plan accounts for the building as well as the items.

When you enquire, tell us about:

  • The floor or floors involved.
  • Lift availability, dimensions and any booking requirements.
  • Stairs, narrow doors and long carrying routes.
  • Loading bays, parking and vehicle-access restrictions.
  • Reception, security or contractor sign-in requirements.
  • The person authorised to approve the work.
  • Any lease handback or collection deadline.

For office clearance in Uxbridge or elsewhere in West London, send the site postcode and the available access window.

If normal working hours are unsuitable, ask about a different collection time. Availability needs to be checked before it is confirmed.

Discuss your collection window

Agree the inventory and quote

Build a useful clearance inventory

Separate the items into three groups: clear, retain and relocate.

For each group to be cleared, give an approximate quantity and photograph. Identify heavy items, locked cabinets, electrical equipment and anything requiring disconnection or special handling.

This helps distinguish a straightforward furniture collection from a job requiring further assessment.

What affects office clearance costs?

The quotation depends on the work involved, including:

  • The quantity, size, weight and type of items.
  • Carrying distances, stairs and lift access.
  • The labour and vehicle requirements.
  • Any agreed furniture dismantling.
  • Disposal arrangements for the different materials.
  • Loading restrictions and the requested collection window.

Check that the written quote explains the agreed inventory, inclusions, exclusions, applicable VAT and any separately charged items or access costs. If the inventory changes, ask for the scope and price to be reviewed before collection.

Request an office clearance quote with your inventory and site details.

Prepare your workplace

Before collection, confirm which items are authorised for removal and label anything being retained.

Empty desks and cabinets where practical. Keep confidential documents, personal possessions and equipment awaiting a separate decision out of the clearance area.

Tell your building manager about the proposed work and confirm any lift or loading arrangements. Leave access routes clear, and identify anything requiring disconnection by a suitably qualified person.

A named site contact should be available to clarify the agreed scope.

Disposal records and recycling

Ask how the different materials will be handled and what records will accompany the clearance. Where items may be suitable for reuse, their condition and the available route need to be assessed.

For non-hazardous business waste transferred off your premises, a waste transfer note or another document containing the required information is needed. Confirm the paperwork arrangements before collection.

Clearance or an office relocation?

Office clearance removes agreed contents that your business no longer needs. Office relocation moves the furniture and equipment you are keeping to another address.

If your project involves both, separate the two inventories when you enquire. For the moving part of the job, read about our office and business removals.

Office clearance FAQs

Include furniture such as desks, chairs, tables, cabinets and shelving, with quantities and photographs. List electrical equipment, batteries, confidential materials, fixed fittings and unusually heavy items separately so acceptance and handling can be assessed.

Yes. We can arrange office clearances outside normal working hours, including evenings and weekends, to minimise disruption.

Provide the equipment type, quantity, approximate size and weight, and whether it contains batteries or stored data. Explain whether it is disconnected and ready to move. Collection, disconnection and data destruction are separate requirements.

The price depends on the inventory, material types, access, labour, transport and disposal requirements. Send photographs and site details for a quote that reflects your job rather than relying on an office-size estimate alone.

We can remove IT and electrical equipment, but we do not disconnect equipment or erase data. Any equipment containing sensitive data must be securely wiped by you beforehand, and confidential documents should go through a specialist service.

Non-hazardous business waste transfers need a waste transfer note or an equivalent document, so tell us what you need when booking. Our waste carrier registration is CBDU 642546, and risk assessments and insurance documents can be provided when required.

No. Clearance concerns unwanted contents. Office removals transport the items your business is keeping. If you need both, identify the disposal and relocation items separately.

Yes. We are fully insured, including Goods in Transit cover, giving you extra peace of mind while your belongings are being transported. Cover is subject to the terms and limits of our policy.
