Plan the move around your workplace
An office move involves more than choosing a removal date. Your team may need access to computers until the end of the working day, the building may restrict deliveries, or different departments may need to move in a particular order.
Tell us when the existing office must be cleared, when the new premises become available and which parts of the move are time-sensitive. Evening and weekend moves are available, subject to availability and permission to access both buildings.
We can then plan the physical relocation around the agreed schedule. Allow time separately for your IT team, internet connection, equipment testing and any other work needed before staff return.
What needs to move?
Office furniture and workstations
We move desks, chairs, meeting-room furniture and office storage. Where furniture needs dismantling and reassembly, identify it during the assessment so the required work can be agreed.
Flag unusually large, heavy or fitted items before booking. Photographs, dimensions and details of doorways or lifts help establish how they can be handled.
Computers and office equipment
Computers, monitors, printers and other office equipment need suitable preparation and clear destination labels.
Tell us what equipment is moving, including any servers or specialist items. We transport this equipment but do not disconnect or reconnect it, so arrange for it to be disconnected and ready before moving day. Technical configuration, data migration and network testing should be discussed separately; do not assume they are included in physical equipment transport.
Files, boxes and shared office contents
A simple labelling system helps keep departments, workstations and shared supplies organised. Mark each box with its destination room or team, and keep an inventory of the contents you need to find first.
Identify confidential records and agree their preparation and handling with the person responsible for them in your business.
If you would like help preparing the office, ask about our packing and unpacking services.
How your office relocation is organised
1. Assess the move
Share the collection and delivery addresses, furniture and equipment list, preferred dates and access details. Larger or more complex moves may need a site assessment.
2. Agree the scope and schedule
Confirm what is moving, the packing and furniture work required, any storage needs and the proposed collection and delivery arrangements.
3. Prepare the workplace
Finalise labels, destination positions and building access. Ensure the people responsible for IT preparation and site access know the schedule.
4. Move and position the agreed contents
The team carries out the agreed loading, transport and unloading. A destination plan helps furniture and labelled contents reach the appropriate areas.
5. Check the handover
Have an authorised contact available to check the delivery and raise any immediate questions. Your business can then complete its own equipment, connectivity and operational checks.
What affects office removal costs?
The cost of business removals depends on the work involved at both premises. Important factors include:
- The quantity and type of furniture, equipment and boxes.
- The number of people and vehicles required.
- Packing, dismantling and reassembly requirements.
- Stairs, lifts, loading distances and restricted access.
- Travel between the premises.
- Evening, weekend or phased scheduling.
- Temporary storage and any additional collections or deliveries.
Provide the same inventory and access information when comparing quotes. Check which services are included, what assumptions have been made and what could change the price.
Preparing both offices for moving day
Choose one person to coordinate the move and make sure a contact is available at each address.
Before moving day:
- Confirm loading areas, parking arrangements and any building-management requirements.
- Check lift availability, dimensions and permitted operating times.
- Share a floor plan or clear instructions for the destination.
- Label furniture and boxes by room, department or workstation.
- Arrange equipment shutdown, backups and reconnection with your IT team.
- Separate items that are staying, moving into storage or being disposed of.
- Keep keys, essential documents and immediately needed equipment accessible.
Tell us about changes to the inventory or access arrangements as soon as possible so they can be reviewed before the move.
Storage and items you are leaving behind
If your new premises are not ready for every item, ask about storage services. Explain what needs storing, for how long and whether you expect to need access during that period.
Keep unwanted furniture and equipment separate from the relocation inventory and use our office clearance service for those items. If your business relocation includes stock, racking or machinery, see warehouse relocation for a project-specific assessment. For a standalone collection and delivery, choose goods transport services.

Office removals FAQs
How much do office removals cost?
The price depends on the inventory, distance, access, crew time and services required. Packing, furniture dismantling, storage and out-of-hours scheduling can also affect the quote. Send both addresses and an equipment and furniture list for an assessment.
Can you move our office in the evening or at the weekend?
Yes. We can arrange office moves outside normal working hours, including evenings and weekends, to minimise disruption to your business. Both buildings must allow access at the agreed times, so tell us about loading-bay, lift or security restrictions.
Can you move computers, monitors and servers?
We safely transport computers, monitors and standard office IT equipment, but we do not disconnect or reconnect electrical or IT equipment. Please have everything disconnected and ready before our team arrives, and discuss specialist equipment with us in advance.
Do you dismantle and reassemble office furniture?
Yes. We dismantle and reassemble desks, workstations and other suitable furniture. Send details of fitted, unusually large or specialist items beforehand; any additional charge is included or agreed in your quote.
How can we reduce disruption to staff?
Agree the move sequence, label contents by destination and prepare access at both buildings. Coordinate equipment shutdown and reconnection with your IT team. Scheduling outside normal working hours may help, but reopening also depends on your own systems and premises being ready.
Can you store furniture during our office relocation?
Yes. We have our own secure storage, with units and containers protected by CCTV and 24-hour on-site security, booked weekly or monthly. Tell us the quantity and expected duration so storage can be planned with the move.
What insurance applies to an office move?
Yes. Magnus Removals is fully insured, including Public Liability and Goods in Transit cover, with a £500 excess. Items packed by our team are fully covered, boxes you pack yourself are covered if they are packed safely, and belongings in our storage are covered too. Cover is subject to the terms and limits of our policy. If anything is damaged, tell us as soon as possible, ideally within 24 to 48 hours.
How much notice do you need?
Contact us as soon as your likely dates are known; larger moves and restricted access need more planning. Same-day and urgent moves are available, subject to availability.
