Warehouse relocation services
Moving your warehouse takes planning around stock, equipment, access and the date your new premises will be ready. Magnus Removals provides warehouse relocation services, with the scope agreed around the items being moved and the requirements at both sites.
Tell us about your stock, racking and machinery so we can discuss the move and prepare a tailored quote. Quotes are free, and we can assess the job from photos, a video or a site visit.

What needs moving from your warehouse?
A warehouse move usually covers more than boxes of stock. Before we plan the work, it helps to know everything that will be kept and moved to the new site:
- Stock and inventory: palletised goods, boxed and loose stock, and anything that must stay in a set order or batch.
- Racking and shelving: pallet racking, shelving bays and storage units that will be reused at the new premises.
- Machinery and equipment: packing stations, workbenches, trolleys and other operating equipment.
- Office areas: desks, chairs and files from the warehouse office. For a full office, see our office removals service.
A simple inventory makes the assessment faster and the quote more accurate:
| Item | Quantity | Dimensions | Approx. weight | Destination zone |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Palletised stock | e.g. 40 pallets | 1.2 m × 1.0 m | per pallet | Bay A |
| Shelving bays | e.g. 12 | height × width | — | Pick area |
| Packing stations | e.g. 3 | — | — | Dispatch |
Racking, machinery and anything heavy, fixed or unusually shaped are assessed individually. We can move most large and heavy items, subject to safe access and suitable equipment. For exceptionally heavy or specialist equipment, send details or photos and we will confirm whether we can move it safely.
If some stock or fittings are not coming with you, keep them off the moving inventory and ask about warehouse clearance instead.
Plan your warehouse relocation around operations
A good warehouse relocation starts with how your business needs to keep working. We agree the move sequence with you: which stock goes first, what must stay available until the last day, and when the new site can receive goods. If you need to keep trading, we can work in the evening or at the weekend, and any additional charge is confirmed in your quote.
Stock and inventory
Count and label stock before the move, and decide which lines are priority items you need to pick from straight away at the new site. Grouping stock by destination zone keeps unloading orderly and helps you restart dispatch sooner.
Racking and machinery
Tell us which racking and equipment is being reused, and whether it needs dismantling. Racking and fixed installations are assessed individually, and we confirm the arrangements in your quote.
We do not disconnect or reconnect electrical equipment or machinery, so please have a qualified person make it safe and ready to move before our team arrives.
Access at both premises
Loading bays, dock heights, goods lifts, stairs, gates and parking all affect how a warehouse move is run. Tell us about access and any time restrictions at both sites.
Customers arrange any parking suspensions or loading permissions, and we are happy to advise on what is needed.
How the warehouse move works
1. Enquiry and inventory
You send both postcodes, an inventory or photos, and your target dates.
2. Assessment of both sites
We review access, loading arrangements and the items to be moved, from photos, a video or a site visit. Assessments are free.
3. Agreed scope and quote
We confirm in writing what is included, the move sequence, timings and whether VAT is included. A 10% deposit secures your date.
4. Preparation and transport
We protect, load and transport the agreed items. You label stock by destination zone and have equipment disconnected beforehand.
5. Delivery and agreed placement
Items are unloaded into the agreed zones, and we check the load against the inventory with your site contact before we leave.
Preparing for moving day
A short checklist for the week before the move:
- Confirm access, keys and loading arrangements at the new premises.
- Separate unwanted goods so they are not loaded with retained stock.
- Identify priority stock and label every destination area clearly.
- Have machinery and electrical equipment disconnected and made safe.
- Nominate a site contact at each premises for the day.
- Keep important documents, keys and valuables with you.
Labelling is your responsibility unless packing has been agreed as part of the quote. Packing materials can be supplied when required, and any cost is confirmed in your quote.
What affects warehouse relocation costs?
Every warehouse move is quoted individually. The main factors are:
- the volume and weight of stock, racking and equipment;
- the distance between sites;
- loading bays, stairs, lifts and carrying distances at both premises;
- the handling equipment and team size needed;
- dismantling and reassembly;
- the programme: a single day, several days, or evening and weekend work.
We are VAT registered, and every quote clearly states whether VAT is included. If the inventory, access or dates change, we confirm any change to the price before the work goes ahead.
Storage and related business services
- Storage between sites: if the new premises are not ready, we offer storage during your warehouse move in our own secure facilities, with CCTV and 24-hour on-site security, booked weekly or monthly.
- Unwanted stock and fittings: items you are not keeping can be removed through our warehouse clearance service.
- A single delivery rather than a full move: see standalone goods transport.
- Office areas: a full office move is covered by our office removals service.

Warehouse relocation FAQs
How do you plan a warehouse relocation?
Start with an inventory of the stock, racking and equipment you are keeping, and the date the new site will be ready. We then assess both premises, agree the move sequence and priority stock with you, and confirm the scope and timings in writing.
How long does a warehouse move take?
It depends on the volume of stock, the racking and equipment involved, access at both sites and the distance. Smaller moves can be completed in a day; larger relocations are planned over a longer programme. We give you a timetable once we have assessed the job.
Can you move racking and machinery?
We can move most large and heavy items, subject to safe access and suitable equipment, and racking and specialist equipment are assessed individually. Machinery and electrical equipment must be disconnected and made safe beforehand, as we do not disconnect or reconnect it.
Can my stock be stored if the new warehouse is not ready?
Yes. We have our own secure storage facilities, with units and containers protected by CCTV and 24-hour on-site security guards. Storage is booked weekly or monthly, you can access your goods with 24 hours’ notice at no charge, and redelivery is arranged to suit you.
Can the move be done over several days or outside working hours?
We work evenings and weekends, and any additional charge is confirmed in your quote. Tell us if you need the move split across more than one day, and we will confirm the best sequence when we assess the job.
What information do you need for a quote?
Both postcodes, an inventory or photos, approximate dimensions and weights of large items, details of racking and machinery, loading access at each site, your target dates and any operating restrictions.
Are goods insured during the move?
Yes. We are fully insured, including Public Liability and Goods in Transit cover, with a £500 excess, subject to the terms and limits of our policy. Report any damage as soon as possible, ideally within 24 to 48 hours.
What happens to stock we no longer want?
Keep it separate from the items being moved. Unwanted stock and fittings can be removed through our warehouse clearance service, and collected waste goes to authorised waste and recycling facilities.
