Choose the house packing service you need
The right option depends on how much you want to prepare yourself and which belongings need additional care.
Full packing
A full packing service is suitable if you want help with the agreed household contents rather than packing room by room yourself.
Our team can pack everyday belongings such as kitchenware, clothing and books, with wrapping and labelling to prepare them for the move. Tell us about cupboards, loft contents, garages and other storage areas so the quote reflects everything you want included.
Keep personal essentials and anything you intend to carry yourself separate from the packing areas.
Partial packing
You may prefer to pack most belongings yourself and leave particular rooms or items to us.
For example, you can ask for help with the kitchen, a collection of glassware or the belongings you have not had time to finish. Agree a clear list of what Magnus will pack and what you will prepare, so nothing is overlooked or packed twice.
Fragile-item packing
Glassware, mirrors, pictures and other delicate belongings need attention to their shape, condition and handling requirements.
Tell us about fragile or valuable items when requesting your quote. Photographs and approximate dimensions help us assess the work and materials needed.
Unusually delicate, heavy or high-value pieces should be discussed individually. Do not assume custom crating, fine-art handling or other specialist arrangements are included unless confirmed for your booking.
Packing materials and room labels
Magnus can supply boxes and protective packing materials for the agreed work. Any additional cost for materials is clearly confirmed in your quote.
If you already have boxes, let us know before booking so their suitability can be discussed.
Room labels make the next stage easier. Tell the team how you want rooms identified at the new property, especially if the room names differ from your current home. Highlight anything that needs to remain accessible until the last stage of packing.
If reusable or recyclable materials are important to you, ask which options are available for your move. The choice still needs to suit the belongings being protected.
What unpacking support includes
Unpacking can help you get agreed belongings out of their boxes and into the rooms where they are needed.
Discuss the level of help you want before booking: which rooms, which items and whether you need furniture placement as part of the move. This allows the time and work to be included in the quotation.
Furniture assembly, appliance connections, wall mounting and detailed cupboard organisation are separate tasks and should not be assumed to be part of unpacking.
Plan packing around your moving date
We recommend giving at least 48 hours’ notice when booking packing services before your move. Contact us earlier where possible, particularly for a full household or when several services need coordinating.
Tell us both your moving date and when you would like packing to take place. The packing schedule depends on the contents, property access, service level and availability.
If your moving date is provisional, say so when you enquire. If it changes, contact us promptly so the packing and removal arrangements can be reviewed together.
How to prepare before the packers arrive
You do not need to pre-pack the items you have booked us to pack, but some preparation helps the day run smoothly.
- Separate belongings you are keeping, donating or disposing of.
- Keep passports, keys, medication, documents and valuables you intend to carry with you aside.
- Prepare an essentials bag with chargers, toiletries, a change of clothes and anything needed that evening.
- Identify items that must remain accessible until moving day.
- Tell us about fragile pieces, existing damage and unusual handling needs.
- Clear safe access to cupboards, shelves and the rooms included in the booking.
- Discuss any appliance preparation separately before the team arrives.
For partial packing, make the division of work clear. Mark or identify the rooms and items Magnus will handle.
What affects the cost of packing?
Packing costs depend on the amount and type of belongings, the number of rooms involved, the materials required and the time needed.
A room containing books and clothing involves different work from a kitchen full of glassware or a collection of delicate ornaments. Property size is a useful starting point, but the actual contents matter more than bedroom count alone.
Your quotation should distinguish the packing labour, materials, removal service and any unpacking you request. If you are comparing options, ask for full and partial packing to be assessed against the same item list.
Packing alongside removals and storage
Packing can be planned alongside your house removal, so preparation, loading and delivery follow an agreed sequence.
If belongings need to spend time in storage, tell us before packing. Identify anything you may need before the rest is delivered, and discuss access and redelivery arrangements.

Yes. Partial packing lets you request help with agreed rooms or belongings while you pack the rest. Provide a clear list, including fragile items, so the materials and time can be assessed.
Are packing materials included in the price?
Packing materials can be supplied when required, and any additional cost is clearly confirmed in your quote, so you can see exactly what is included.
Is packing included in a house removal quote?
Only where it forms part of the agreed service. Ask for packing, materials and unpacking to be identified in your removal quotation so you can see what has been included.
How much notice do I need to book?
Magnus’s current recommendation is at least 48 hours’ notice for packing before your move. Earlier contact is advisable for larger jobs or particular dates. This is booking guidance, not a guarantee that a slot will be available.
How long does a full packing service take?
It depends on the volume of belongings, the rooms involved, fragile items and the agreed team and schedule. Provide photographs or a detailed description of the contents so the likely packing time can be assessed. Bedroom count alone is not enough to give a reliable duration.
What should I pack or keep with me?
Keep medication, keys, important documents, valuables you intend to carry, chargers and first-night essentials separate. Tell the team about anything that must remain available until the move. For partial packing, prepare the items that remain your responsibility.
Can you unpack everything at the new property?
Yes. Unpacking can include unpacking boxes and placing items as agreed, and we can also take away used boxes and packing materials afterwards. Agree the rooms and items before booking; appliance installation and wall mounting are separate tasks.
Are packed belongings insured?
Yes. We are fully insured, including Goods in Transit cover. Items packed by our team are fully covered, and boxes you pack yourself are covered if they are packed safely. Cover is subject to the terms and limits of our policy.
