What needs taking away?

A few unwanted items

Ask about furniture, appliances and other household items you no longer need. Include approximate dimensions for bulky pieces and tell us whether they need dismantling to leave the room.

If an item is being moved to another address rather than discarded, make that clear. Our Uxbridge removals service covers moving enquiries, so the destination and handling can be discussed appropriately.

Bagged or mixed household rubbish

For a clear-out, show the whole load and describe what is inside the bags or boxes. The number of bags alone does not tell us the weight or material. Mention loose items separately and include anything outside the main photograph.

If several rooms need sorting and clearing, see our house clearance in Uxbridge. That service starts with a wider property scope, including what should stay.

Garden or renovation leftovers

Garden cuttings, unwanted outdoor items and waste from a small renovation need different assessments. Tell us whether the load includes soil, rubble, timber, plasterboard or other materials, and how it can be reached.

For a mixed job, our waste removal services explain the main categories and what to discuss before booking. Do not mix unidentified or potentially hazardous material into general rubbish.

Need rubbish collected today?

Same-day rubbish removal is available, subject to availability. Call 020 8050 9189 with the collection postcode, load description and access details.

Tell us whether the items are ready and whether there is a deadline. We need to check the actual job before confirming a collection. A date requested through a form is an enquiry, not a reserved slot.

Check collection availability

Get a useful quote with a few clear details

A good enquiry does not need a precise waste-volume calculation. Start with:

  • The collection postcode and your preferred date.
  • A list of items, quantities and approximate sizes of large pieces.
  • Photos showing the complete load and anything hidden behind it.
  • The floor, stairs, lift and distance to a possible loading point.
  • Anything heavy, damaged, sharp or unusual in the load.

If the rubbish is in more than one room or outside area, include each location. Explain what must remain at the property so that it is clearly outside the collection scope.

How the collection works

First, describe the load and the access. Discuss the quote, collection arrangements and any materials needing a separate check. Let us know if the amount changes before the appointment.

At the property, point out the agreed items and make clear anything that must stay. Keep a contact available for questions. Once the work is complete, check the collection area against the agreed item list and ask about any records you need.

If nobody can be present, raise that when booking. Access, item identification and the handover need to be agreed in advance rather than assumed.

Loading, stairs and awkward access

Tell us whether items are in a ground-floor room, upstairs, behind a narrow gate or at the end of a long garden. Loading work and access form part of assessing the collection, particularly for sofas, wardrobes and heavy appliances.

You do not need to carry heavy items outside just to request a quote. Leave them in place for photographs and explain the route. If a managing agent needs to arrange building access or a loading bay, check that before the appointment.

Keep the route clear where practical, but do not put rubbish on the pavement or in a shared space without permission. Describe the available space for a vehicle rather than assuming it can stop directly outside.

How rubbish removal is priced

The type and amount of rubbish, weight, loading work and access affect the quote. A bulky but light load is different from a compact pile of heavy material. Dismantling or special handling should be discussed before booking.

Ask whether the quote includes the whole load, collection labour, disposal and applicable taxes. If you add items later, ask how the change affects the amount. This makes comparisons more useful than looking only at another company’s starting price.

Know what is being collected and where it goes

Flag chemicals, asbestos, gas cylinders, batteries, medical waste and unknown liquids separately. These should not be treated as ordinary household rubbish without a specific assessment. Damaged electrical items and unusually heavy pieces also need to be described in advance.

Ask Magnus for the current waste-carrier details and information about the handling of your load. If you need collection or disposal records, mention this before booking so the requirement is clear.

For usable furniture, giving it away, selling it or arranging an accepted charity donation may be an option. Hillingdon Council also publishes information about household waste and bulky-item services. Check its current eligibility, accepted items, fees and collection arrangements directly before choosing the route that suits your job.

Local collection enquiries from Uxbridge

Magnus Removals is based in Uxbridge. Send the full collection postcode so we can confirm availability and suitability for the address. Nearby-area enquiries should include the same load and access information rather than only the town name.

For flats, shared properties and managed developments, include building-entry instructions and any permitted collection hours. These details help establish a realistic collection arrangement from the outset.

Rubbish removal questions

The quote depends on the items, load size, access and loading work. There is no minimum charge based on load or weight, and heavy items are not automatically charged extra; just tell us in advance about oversized items, stairs or difficult access. Quotes are free and no-obligation. See our rubbish removal cost guide.

Yes. Same-day and urgent collections are available, subject to availability. Call with the postcode, item list and access details so we can confirm a slot.

Ask us about the specific item and send its size, location and access route. Tell us if dismantling is needed or an appliance is still connected. Suitability and the required work should be confirmed before booking.

Describe where it is when requesting your quote and discuss the loading required. Include stairs, lifts and narrow access. Do not move heavy items simply to prepare an enquiry or take photographs.

We do not collect hazardous or prohibited waste such as asbestos, dangerous chemicals or other materials that need specialist disposal. Tell us about paint, gas bottles, tyres, fridges, electrical appliances or unusual items when you request a quote, so we can confirm whether we can take them.

Usable items may be suitable for donation, sale or giving away, subject to the recipient’s requirements. Council services may also suit some items. A private rubbish collection has its own quote; do not assume reusable contents make the entire load free to clear.

No. Magnus is a private service with its own quote and booking arrangements. For Hillingdon Council collections, check the council’s current rules, items and dates directly. Compare the access, loading and timing arrangements as well as the price.

Tell us as soon as possible so the load and quote can be updated. Charges may apply for late cancellations or changes.

Collected waste is taken to authorised waste and recycling facilities, and reusable items in good condition are donated to charity where possible. Magnus Removals is a registered waste carrier, registration number CBDU 642546.

Yes. We are fully insured, including Goods in Transit cover, giving you extra peace of mind while your belongings are being transported. Cover is subject to the terms and limits of our policy.
