Start with the details of your move
Two properties with the same number of bedrooms can involve very different moves. A clear inventory and accurate access information help establish what needs to be included.
Tell us what needs moving
List the main furniture, approximate number of boxes and any belongings that need particular attention.
Include items in garages, lofts, sheds or other storage areas if they are part of the move. Declare unusually heavy, delicate or valuable belongings before booking rather than assuming they can be added on the day.
For large furniture, photographs and measurements can help explain the item and its route out of the property.
Describe access at both properties
Tell us which floors are involved, whether a lift is available and whether it needs to be booked.
Explain where loading can take place and whether there are narrow entrances, long carrying distances, gates or time restrictions. The delivery property needs the same attention as the collection address.
If you are unsure about an access issue, describe it in your enquiry so the next step can be discussed.
Choose the support you need
You may be organising the packing yourself or looking for packing and unpacking assistance.
If your new property will not be available immediately, mention the need for storage. Where furniture may need taking apart, explain the item and ask whether that work can be included.
The important point is to identify the requested tasks before the booking is finalised.
From enquiry to moving day
Start by sending the collection and delivery postcodes, preferred date, inventory and access details.
Discuss the requested services and ask for clarification wherever the quotation leaves an assumption unclear. Check what is included, which dates are agreed and what the booking terms require.
Before the move, report any changes to the item list, property access or destination. Prepare belongings according to the agreed packing arrangements and keep essential personal items separately.
For domestic moves, explore our house removals service. Workplace moves should be discussed through our business and commercial removals service.
What affects the cost?
A Cambridgeshire removal quote considers the amount being moved, the journey and the work needed at each property.
Packing requirements, difficult access, additional handling and storage can all affect the scope. Dates and any requested scheduling restrictions also need to be discussed.
Compare quotations against the same inventory and service list. A lower headline figure is difficult to assess if one quote includes packing and another covers transport only.
Moves across Cambridgeshire and beyond

Cambridgeshire removals FAQs
What information do you need for a removal quote?
Provide both postcodes, the preferred date, property type, floors involved, main furniture and approximate box count. Include parking, lift and access information, plus any packing or storage requirements.
Is the number of bedrooms enough to estimate a move?
It helps, but it does not describe the full inventory. Garages, sheds, large furniture and the amount already packed can make a substantial difference to the work involved.
Can you move large or unusually heavy items?
We can move most large and heavy household and office items, subject to safe access and suitable equipment. For exceptionally heavy or specialist items, such as pianos, safes, gym equipment or American fridge-freezers, send details or photos so we can confirm we can move them safely.
Can furniture dismantling be included?
Yes. We dismantle and reassemble beds, wardrobes and other suitable furniture when required. Any additional charge is included or agreed in your quote before the job.
Do you only cover Cambridge?
No. We cover the whole of Cambridgeshire, including Ely, Huntingdon, St Neots and Wisbech. Send both postcodes to check availability.
What if my inventory changes after the quote?
Tell Magnus before moving day. Additional items or different access arrangements may change the resources, time or price required.
Can you help with packing or storage?
Yes. We offer full or partial packing, with materials supplied when required, and storage in our own secure facilities, booked weekly or monthly. Any additional cost is confirmed in your quote.
Are my belongings insured?
Yes. Magnus Removals is fully insured, including Public Liability and Goods in Transit cover, with a £500 excess. Items packed by our team are fully covered, boxes you pack yourself are covered if they are packed safely, and belongings in our storage are covered too. Cover is subject to the terms and limits of our policy. If anything is damaged, tell us as soon as possible, ideally within 24 to 48 hours.
